RFVP Disability Inclusion and Safety Resource Hub

The Disability Inclusion and Safety Resource Hub has been developed for organisations and practitioners who are working with people with disability who are experiencing or using family violence.

People with disability (predominantly women and children with disability) are 40% more likely to experience family violence and abuse across the course of their lifetime. They also experience significant barriers to reporting abuse and seeking safety and support from the Family Violence and Sexual Assault service system. It is vital that organisations and practitioners take steps to reduce barriers of access to services by offering accessible and inclusive service provision. This includes ensuring organisations have Diversity and Inclusion or Disability Action Plans in place, and that workforces are skilled and confident in engaging and offering accessible and inclusive service to people with disability who are experiencing or using family violence.

The Resource Hub provides ready access to important resources that promote safety, accessibility, equity and inclusion of people with disability which can aid in reducing barriers and increasing safety.  Resources are relevant to Organisational Leaders, Specialist Family Violence and Sexual Assault Practitioners, Disability Services, Health, Family Support, Education and others.

The Disability Inclusion and Safety Hub has been developed in collaboration between the Eastern Regional Family Violence Partnership and the Eastern Region Family Violence and Disability Practice Leader Initiative. The Family Violence Disability Practice Leader Initiative (FVDPL) provides practice leadership at the intersection of family violence and sexual assault as well as disability, through provision of practice leadership, secondary consultation and emerging best practice advice.
