Effectively identify and respond to male perpetrators of family violence by learning how to identify and resist invitations to collude.
This training is open to practitioners in the eastern metropolitan region who have attended Identifying Family Violence (or similar) in the past two years.
We encourage participants to watch the 75 minute pre-recorded webinar Responding to family Violence During COVID-19 prior to attending this session. Information for this webinar can be found at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/responding-to-family-violence-during-covid-19-pre-recorded-webinar-tickets-103657484326
Developed and delivered by Ada Conroy (NIFVS Senior Workforce Development Officer and experienced men’s behaviour change practitioner), the training is designed for practitioners who may come across male perpetrators in the course of their work. It is not men’s behaviour change facilitator training.
Past participants have reflected:
“This training has made me more mindful of the ways in which I may be unintentionally colluding with unhelpful statements by patients, by letting it go or attributing this only to their mental health disorder rather than thinking of the broader family violence framework and impact on their families.”
“The training ensures staff prioritise the safety of women/ children at all times and therefore ultimately aims to address not just his use of violence but social belief systems that drive his behaviour.”
